Fantastic turnaround for Jyoti, joint leader after penultimate rou

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Displaying scintillating golf, defending champion Jyoti Randhawa staged a superb comeback to finish joint leader along with Thailand's Chapchai Nirat with an identical three round total of ten under 206 on the penultimate day of the 500,000 dollar Hero Honda Indian Open here today.

Thirty-five-year-old Jyoti, who was lying at joint eighth place after round two, fired five under 67 in the third round to be the joint leader.

The Indian had seven birdies and two bogeys in his round which he described as very satisfying.

Nirat, who started the day with 11 under 133, at one stage look like emerging the sole third round leader but two bogeys at back nine spoiled his day.

However, the best round of the day came from New Zealand's Mark Brown who fired eight under par 64 to end at third place with an aggregate of nine under 207.

First day joint leader Gaurav Ghei had a two under par 70 round and he moved up from joint eighth to fourth place with a total of seven under 209.

Meanwhile, pre tournament favourite Jeev Milkha Singh who struggled to make the cut continued with his poor form as he carded one under 71 to be placed down the leaderboard at joint eighth place with a total of one over 217.

Yesterday's hero for the local fans Shamim Khan showed surprising slump in his form as he hit dismal five over 77 and slipped to joint 12th place totaling two under 214. The Delhi pro was at fourth place overnight.

Another first round joint leader Gurbaaz Maan also had poor outing as he hit two over 74 and was lying at joint 32nd.

Kolkata's SSP Chowrasia also flattered to deceive and slipped to joint tenth slot with a three round total of three under 213. Today, he had a two over par 74 score.
