Bopanna-Rochus crashes out of Stockholm Open

Stockholm, Oct 13 (UNI) Rohan Bopanna and his Belgian partner Olivier Rochus went down in straight sets 3-6, 5-7 against the Swedish-Belarussian pair of Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi in the semi-final of Stockholm Open here today.

The Swedish-Belarussian pair brushed aside the challenge of the unseeded Indo-Belgian duo in a match that lasted one hour and 14 minutes.

Riding on a higher number of break points won and break points saved, 57 per cent and 50 per cent respectively, the second seeds tore apart any challenge mounted by Bopanna and Rochus.

The Swedish-Belarussian duo also took advantage of the serves with a 71 per cent of the total service points won and 41 per cent of the total return points in the match.

The Indo-Belgian pair, on the other hand, could muster only 59 per cent and 29 per cent total service and return points respectively.

In the end, the duo of Bopanna and Rochus could only manage a paltry 45 percent of the total points, while their second seed counterparts were 10 points better than them.
