Wanted Maoist surrenders
Mahaboobnagar, Oct 12 (UNI) CPI (Maoist) District Committee Secretary Gunduru Sreenu alias Ramakanth today surrendered before Superintendent of Police Charu Sinha.
Addressing a press conference here, Ms Sinha said the insurgent, who carried a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, also laid down his AK 47 rifle. Ramakanth, a native of Ajilpur in the district, had joined the group in 1995.
A wanted insurgent of Kalwakurthy Dalam, Ramakanth was involved in 75 cases including murder. The reward money of Rs five lakh would now be handed over to the reformed naxal as part of his rehabilitation.
Ramakanath, who was produced before the media, said he got disenchanted with the outfit as it lost the support of the masses and wanted to return to the mainstream.
