Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) United Spirits Ltd (USL) would set up a grain-based whisky plant at Asansol in West Bengal at an investment of about Rs 35 crore.

" We are going to set up a grain whisky plant near our facility in Asansol investing Rs 30 to 35 crore. It will have a capacity of 30 kiloliters per day," USL (East) Chief Coordinating Officer Kaushik Chatterjee today said.

Similar plants would also be set up in Maharashtra and north India, Mr Chatterjee said.

The company at present has four plants in the eastern region, including the one opened near Budge Budge in West Bengal recently.

In reply to a question, Mr Chatterjee said the company had set a 15 per cent sales growth target in the current fiscal relying more on its Mcdowell no one brand. While USL sold 66 million cases last year, it was expecting to reach the 73 million-mark this year.

The company was also eyeing to increase its market share to 70 per cent this fiscal from 66 per cent, recorded in the last year, Mr Chatterjee said.
