Hoshiarpur, Oct 12 (UNI) Sangrur claimed the overall trophy by securing 14 points in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Punjab State Rural Games for Boys (Under 16) which concluded here today.
Gurdaspur became the runners-up with 13 points.
Yadwinder Singh of Faridkot won the 200 metres race by clocking 23.57 seconds. Harmeet Singh of Patiala (24.26 seconds) got the second place while Gopichand of Hoshiarpur (24.46 Secs) finished third.
Narinder Singh of Ropar bagged gold medal in 62 kg category in weightlifting with a lift of 162 kg. Harinder Singh of Ropar and Mandeep Kumar of Nawanshahar got second and third places by lifting 132 kg and 123 kg, respectively.
Punjab Sports Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike distributed the prizes to the winners.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
