MOSCOW, Oct 12 (Reuters) Russia said today its talks with the United States on missile shield plans would be more effective if Washington agreed to freeze the deployment of its missile defence in eastern Europe.
''We believe that to make the joint work of Russian and US experts most effective, plans on deploying the third positioning region (of the missile defence) should be frozen,'' Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a joint news conference with U.S.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
''On this aspect, we still have no agreement.'' Reuters PD DB1901
