President to visit Amravati on Oct 13

Nagpur, Oct 12: President Pratibha Patil will make a brief visit to Amravati in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra tomorrow. Ms Patil would arrive here from New Delhi by a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft shortly before noon tomorrow. She would then immediately proceed to Amravati, an official press release said.

The President would stay in Amravati for the night. On Sunday morning, she would return to Nagpur and then leave for Hyderabad by a special IAF aircraft.

Ms Patil would be accorded a public felicitation in Amravati city.

This is first her first visit to her in-law's place after being elected as the first citizen of the country, the official release added.

Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil would also be on a brief visit to the region over the weekend. Mr Krishna is scheduled to arrive by service flight tonight and stay at 'Raj Bhawan' here, official press release said. He would receive Ms Patil on her arrival here tomorrow, and accompany her to Amravati by helicopter, it added. He would return to Nagpur by road tomorrow evening, and immediately return to Mumbai by service flight, the press release said.

From Amravati, Mr Deshmukh will proceed to Yavatmal for a meeting scheduled to be held there on Monday, official sources said.
