New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Rajendra K Pachauri, head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which today shared the Nobel Peace Prize with former US Vice President Al Gore, expressed the hope that the award would stimulate action by the global community, especially the developed countries, to reduce green house emissions.

''For an equilibrium temperature increase of 2-2.4 degree centigrade, the world can best allow emissions to increase up to 2015, beyond which they must decline,'' Dr Pachauri told a press conference here.

Stressing that the developed world should play the lead role in reducing the impact of climate change, he said there was no need to involve the emerging markets at this stage.

''Their economic goals should, however, be such that they don't lead green house emissions,'' he added.
