Srinagar, Oct 12 (UNI) No militancy-related incident was reported from anywhere in the Kashmir valley today on the first day of a three-day unilateral ceasefire declared by the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)-based United Jehad Council (UJC) on Eid-ul-Fitr.

However, the more than 12-hour-long gun-battle between security forces and the militants ended this morning at 0500 hrs with the killing of the second member of a suicide squad (fidayeen) at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at a hotel here.

The other militant was killed immediately after two 'fidayeen' of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba stormed the camp last evening.

The daily press bulletin on militant violence issued by the police headquarters also had no mention of any such incident today.

Headquartered in PoK capital Muzaffarabad, the UJC is an umbrella organisation of several militant outfits active in Jammu and Kashmir and is headed by Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahuddin.
