Nephew sentenced to 10 years RI for killing uncle

Rourkela, Oct 12 (UNI) A youth was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed for killing his uncle following a quarrel in May last.

Ad hoc Additional Sessions Judge (fast track) Soubhan Kumar Dash today convicted Arjun Mallik (32) of Khandanbasti under Raghunathpalli police station in Rourkela, under section 304 (1) and directed him to undergo 10 years' rigorous and pay a fine of Rs 5000.

He further ordered that inability to pay the fine would lead to extension of his RI by six months.

According to the prosecution, the accused was residing with his uncle Dibakar Mallik (54) at Khadan Basti since his childhood.

On May 5 last, there was a quarrel between the two after the Arjun's uncle accused his nephew of keeping illicit affairs with his wife. Dibakar bled to death after Arjun, out of rage, assaulted him with a vegetable cutter.
