Mons Joseph new KC (J) minister

Kochi, Oct 12 (UNI) Kerala Congress (Joseph) tonight decided to nominate Kaduthuruthy MLA Mons Joseph as the ministerial candidate in the Left Democratic Front government headed by V S Achuthanandan.

Announcing the decsion, Party Chairman P J Joseph said, the decision to nominate Mr Mons as the new minister was unanimous.

He said the decision would be conveyed to Chief Minister Achuthanandan tomorrow.

The decision was taken in a five member high-power meeting chaired by Mr Joseph here.

Mr Mons (42) will succeed his party colleague T U Kuruvilla, who resigned from the ministry last month following allegation that his family members were involved in a shady land deal. Mr Mons, a lawyer, was active in campus politics and represented Kerala Students Union (KSU) in his college days.

Kuruvilla had joined the cabinet in 2006 after party chairman P J Joseph was forced to quit facing the allegation of having misbehaved with a woman passenger on board a flight.
