Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) With Maharashtra being in the forefront in diverse sectors like industry, information technology, SEZ and higher technical education, entrepreneurs from Italy have immense opportunities for investments in the state, said Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today.
This was stated by Mr Deshmukh while addressing Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Massimo D'Alema when the latter called on him at his official residence Varsha bungalow here.
Others present on the occasion included Italian Ambassador Antonio Armellini, Head of Minister's Cabinet Ferdinando Nelli Feroci, Director General (Asia-Pacific) Massimo Iannucci, Press and Information Head Pasquale Ferrara, Counsellor Dr Ugo Papi, and Consul General Dr Fabio Rugge.
Discussing various subjects with the foreign dignitaries, the Chief Minister further said the state has made tremendous progress in information technology and bio-technology. It provides employment opportunities to the people from outside the state as well.
There are immense opportunities for investments in Maharashtra, he informed the Italian delegation.
The state has opened a number of colleges to provide educational opportunities, he said.
The state has been making earnest efforts for the overall progress of villages as it has been doing for the urban development, Mr Deshmukh said, adding, the process of setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) is on in the state, for which the Central government has accorded approval.
The government will provide necessary infrastructure for the SEZs, he said.
Just as the Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the stock market has been rising upward, similarly the graph of Maharashtra's progress is also going up, he added.
