Inter-School tournament for girls under 16

Chandigarh, Oct 12 (UNI) The Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department will organise Inter-School tournament for girls under 16 years from October 15 to 17 at Yamunanagar.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiran Choudhry said the tournament was being organised under the Government of India scheme which aimed at promoting the sports activities in the schools.

As many as 102 girls student would participate in this tournament.

Ms Choudhry said that cash prizes of Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs 200 would be awarded to those who would get first, second and third positions respectively.

She said sports events which would be organised included Archery, Athletics, Weight-lifting, Wrestling, Badminton, Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball, Table tennis and Football.

She said that those who got first position in this tournament would participate in the National inter-school tournaments.
