HC directs verification of HCBA membership

Allahabad, Oct 12 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has directed constitution of a five-member committee to verify the membership of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA).

The committee members comprise Dharam Pal Singh, SMA Kazmi, M D Singh 'Sekhar', S P Singh, all senior advocates of HC and A R Shukla.

Passing this order, the bench consisting of Justices B S Chauhan and Arun Tandon directed the committee to examine all the records of HCBA and to verify the legality and validity of its general body enrolled in accordance with its bye-laws entitled to participate in the election of the HCBA office bearers.

The court passed the order on a writ petition filed by former HCBA Vice President Harbans Singh.

The court fixed October 31 as next hearing of the case and ordered the five-member committee to submit its report on this date.
