Ahmedabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Congress Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Arjun Modhwadia has claimed that at least ten BJP leaders, including two MPs -- Soma Ganda and Dr Vallabh Kathiria -- have expressed their desire to join the Congress and are in touch with Central and State Congress leaders.
Mr Modhwadia said the BJP rebels are joining the Congress unconditionally as they have a single purpose, ''Remove Mr Modi from the power and free the people of Gujarat from the clutches of his dictatorship''.
However, their official joining will be decided and announced by the Congress High Command only after consultation with the Gujarat Congress leaders.
Mr Modhwadia, however, said that Mr Modi's bete noire and former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, is not joining the Congress.
Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki, who has strained relationship with Mr Modhwadia, however, expressed complete ignorance about any BJP member having expressed a the desire to join the Congress.
Mr Solanki said the BJP rebels may have got in direct touch with the Central Congress leadership, but have not approached the GPCC.
The BJP dissidents, meanwhile, after their unsuccessful campaign for the ouster of Chief Minister Narendra Modi before the Central leadership in New Delhi yesterday, have decided to intensify their ''defeat Modi'' bid.
