Five held for structural changes in Trimbakeshwar temple
Nashik, Oct 11 (UNI) Five people were arrested today for making some structural changes in the renowned Lord Shiva temple at Trimbakeshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, near here.
According to police, the five -- Dhanjay Yadavrao Tungar, Pradeep Yadavrao Tungar, Yogesh Vishwanath Tungar, Tushant Vishwnath Tungar and Jagdish Somnath Tungar -- were arrested this afternoon following a complaint filed by K M Kale, an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) employee at the temple. He filed a case under section 30 (1) of the Antique Research Releated Excavation Act 1958.
They were accused of replacing the marble flooring around the Jyotirlinga at temple with cement plaster.
All the five were later produced before tehsilar Rajsingh Sulane, who made them sign a bond about maintaining peace as a preventive measure and then released on bail.
