Srinagar, Oct 12 (UNI) A first ever exhibition on Kashmir artefacts is being currently held in New York.
The exhibition titled - 'Arts of Kashmir' - is being organised by Asia Society, a leading US institute for educating Americans about Asia.
The event is being witnessed by large number of people everyday.
About 130 artefacts of Kashmir are displayed in the exhibition.
The artefacts are chosen from sculpture (stone, bronze and ivory) paintings, calligraphy, costumes, carpets, shawls and embroidered shawls with the map of Srinagar city.
Giving details, Higher and Technical Education Commissioner Secretary Pramod Jain and Archives, Archaeology and Museums Director Khurshid Ahmad Qadri said the response of the people toward the exhibition in New York has been great.
They expressed the hope that showcasing of cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through such exhibitions would play a vital role in promoting cultural tourism in the state.
