New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Resident doctors at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital today went on strike after relatives of teenage patient, who died in the hospital last night, attacked the doctors.

Services have been affected in the hospital causing inconvenience to scores of patients.

The patient's family also ransacked the hospital premises, alleging that the patient had died due to the medical negligence.

However, the doctors denied the allegations, saying the patient had been brought in critical condition last night and he was given proper medical attention.

LNJP Resident Doctors' Association representative Manish Nathani said the strike had been called in protest against the attacks on the doctors.

''Doctors face the wrath of families... Our safety is in not a priority of the management. Five doctors who were attending the patient were attacked and they are injured,'' he added.

He said the doctors are demanding better safety measures and working conditions.

Dr Nathani said the patient was referred to LNJP from another hospital and was in a critical condition.

''While the doctors were trying to resituate the patient the family members were hurling abuses at us and after the patient died they went on the rampage,'' he added.
