New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Annual Welfare Exhibition 2007 organised by CRPF Wives Welfare Association (CWWA) began here today, inaugurated by Ms Gursharan Kaur, the wife of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The three-day long event will exhibit the products made by CRPF welfare centres all over the country.
The inaugural function started early this morning with a number of remarkable musical performances given by the students participating from various CRPF schools.
Speaking on the significance of CRPF Annual exhibition, Ms Kaur said, ''these events boost the morale of all the CRPF officers and teach the society to live in cooperation.'' She said CRPF was an integral part of the national security and that it was working well for the internal security.
She later congratulated the CWWA for making an effort to promote the works of women from various parts of the nation.
This year's exhibition mainly focuses on spreading awareness about AIDS and Drug Abuse. For that, a seperate section has been created which deals with problem of HIV, drugs and alcohol and provides assistance through brouchres having various helplines.
President of CWWA Puneet Meena said a new toll free helpline has also been started as a part of CWWA initiative to combat these problems.
Ms Kaur also expressed her concern over the issue and appreciated the effort made by CWWA. ''We live in a stressful world and should know how to deal with it,'' she said.
''Instead of looking for an escape, we should first know the reason behind it,'' she added.
