Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress today alleged of more than Rs 4000 crore scam in the Left Front government-created artificial food crisis in the state.

Congress Legislature Party leader Manas Bhuniya said, '' The state government is issuing false statement against the Centre for non-supply of sufficient foodgrains to the state government, but the Centre has been supplying to the Food Corporation of India(FCI) enough foodgrains, which the state government does not lift to create an artificial food crisis. '' This smacked of the deficiency of the state government, Mr Bhuniya alleged.

He said, '' Not only the ration dealers, the Panchayat Sabhadhipati, Panchayat Pradhan and the ration Inspectors are involved in the food crisis of the state. '' Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee should seek CBI probe into the alleged scam, he added.

He also alleged that lakhs of ghosts ration cards were still in the state and the food crisis arose due to the government neglect.

'' I would meet Union Food and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on October 16 in New Delhi to discuss about the state's food crisis, '' he said.

The Congress would organise a ''hunger rally'' here throughout the state on November 7, he said.
