Water bottles not to be allowed into stadium during Nagpur ODI

By Staff

Nagpur, Oct 11 (UNI) Water bottles will not be allowed in the stadium during the 6th one-day international (ODI) match between India and Australia to be played here on October 14.

Speaking to newsmen here today, Joint Commissioner of Police B J Kangale said initially, it was decided to allow water bottles into the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium, where the match is to be played. However, after some untoward incident during today's ODI match in Vadodara, the city police received a request from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not to allow bottles during the game, he said.

Strict security arrangements have been made for the game, with 32 cameras keeping a watch on the crowd (both inside and outside the stadium), Mr Kangale said.

Over 1,100 officers and men would be deployed for security in and around the stadium, with another 100 for traffic control, he added.

Meanwhile, both the teams would arrive here late tomorrow afternoon, VCA vice president Sudhir Dabir said.
