Sports industry fears FDI

Jalandhar
city
in
Punjab
has
been
a
manufacturing
hub
of
sports
goods.
The
city
accounts
for
65
percent
of
the
total
Indian
exports
of
sports
goods.
The sport goods manufacturers feel that the exports of sports goods worth over 100 million dollars annually could be hit if Foreign Direct Investment is allowed in multi-brand retailing. Presently, multiple-brand retailers are limited to cash-and-carry or franchise and license operations.
