Suicide attack on CRPF camp in Kashmir, one militant killed
Srinagar, Oct 11 (UNI) A militant was killed and three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel wounded when two 'fidayeen' stormed a camp of the para-military force in a hotel on the busy Boulevard Road here today.
The 'fidayeen', attacked the CRPF's 144 battalion lodged in Hotel Boulevard on the banks of famed Dal Lake here this evening after 'Iftar' (breaking of fast) with grenades and also opened heavy volume of fire.
A CRPF spokesman said one fidayeen was killed and three CRPF men -- two constables and a sweeper were wounded in the suicide attack.
He said while the operation was on, the firing had stopped.
The attack came barely few hours ahead of the begging of a three-day unilateral ceasefire declared by the Muzaffarabad- based United Jehad Council (UJC) on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
A CRPF official at the encounter site told UNI that the operation would be suspended for the night and resume with the first light tomorrow morning.
