Railways carry 369.66 MT of freight during April-September
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Sustaining its growth momentum, the Railways carried 369.66 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during the first six months -- April-September -- of the current fiscal.
The freight carried shows an increase of 25.09 MT as compared to 344.57 million tonnes of freight carried during the corresponding period last year, reflecting an increase of 7.28 per cent.
During the month of September 2007, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Railways was 60.77 million tonnes, showing an increase of 5.01 MT over the freight traffic of 55.76 million tonnes during the same period last year.
In effect, it marked an increase of 8.98 per cent, a ministry official said today.
During August this year, the freight carried by Railways was pegged at 55.52 million tonnes, marking an incresae of 3.96 MT over the actual freight of 51.56 million tonnes carried during the same period last year.
