Islamabad, Oct 11(UNI) Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz today said the government was encouraging the politics of ''national reconciliation'' and urged the parties to promote unity and prospertiy in the country.
He asked the people from different political disciplines to assemble at a single platform to promote ''national unity and prosperity'' here.
The Prime Minister was talking to Qari Gul Rahman, MNA Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Karachi, who called on him at the PM House.
He welcomed the support by Qari Gul Rahman for president's re-election and said Pakistan would become stronger if people from different affiliations come together.
Mr Aziz said the completion of presidential election was a major milestone in the political calendar of country, which would help ensure progress.
He appreciated the sagacity and political consciousness of legislators who voted to re-elect President Musharraf.
He said the PML government had strengthened democratic institutions in the country and implemented a programme for the people's welfare and development according to its manifesto.
The Prime Minister while referring to the need for improving education said, ''we need to focus on both religious and general education.'' Qari Gul Rahman then told the Prime Minister that his support to President General Pervez Musharraf was for national unity and strength of Pakistan.
