Nieminen breezes into Stockholm Open quarters

By Staff

STOCKHOLM, Oct 11 (Reuters) Finnish sixth seed Jarkko Nieminen breezed into the Stockholm Open quarter-finals today, beating Australian Peter Luczak 6-0 6-4 to set up a possible re-match of the 2006 final with James Blake.

Blake, the twice champion who outclassed Nieminen last year, takes on Canadian Frank Dancevic later in the day for a place in the last eight.

Having barely broken into a sweat in a first set that saw Luczak make far too many mistakes, Nieminen broke the Australian in the opening game of the second and then held serve to make it eight games in a row.

Luczak finally managed to hold serve after that but could never challenge Nieminen's all-round superiority.

Earlier, Croatia's former world number seven Mario Ancic easily disposed of Sweden's Bjorn Rehnquist 6-1 6-3 to book his place in the last eight.
