New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport&Highways K.H. Muniyappa has condoled the demise of former Karnataka Chief Minister S. R. Bommai, describing him as a prominent freedom fighter and eminent statesman whose loss to the country would be irreparable.
In his condolence message, Mr Muniyappa said Mr Bommai plunged into politics through M.N. Roy's Radical Democratic Party and served the people of the country for over four decades.
Mr Bommai was elected to the assembly for the fist time in 1967 and became the Chief Minister of Karnataka in 1988 and served as Union Minister for Human Resource Development.
Mr Muniyappa also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to God to give strength to his family members to bear this irreparable loss.
