Nagpur, Oct 11 (UNI) Sleuths from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught an official of the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person who had bought a mortgaged property in auction.

The official, identified as Surendra Kumar Gupta, was working as recovery officer at DRT's Nagpur bench. He was caught red-handed after he accepted the money at his residence here late last evening, CBI sources said.

The complainant, identified as Sanjay Agrawal, had bought the flat after the owner defaulted on the repayment of the loan against which the property had been mortgaged, the sources said.

Gupta was asking for Rs 25,000 to issue a possession warrant for the same, Mr Agrawal said in his complaint to the CBI.

Acting on the complaint, CBI officials laid a trap and nabbed Gupta.
