Panaji, Oct 11 (UNI) Title aspirants Dempo trounced Vasco Sports Club 3-0 and maintaind their top position with 29 points in the GFA Professional Football league championship match played at Duler ground, Mapusa, today.
In a one-sided affair, Dempo, who had the upper-hand in both the halves, shot into the lead in the 22nd minute through Ristan Rodriques and were leading 1-0 at the breather.
Inspired by the lead, Dempo continued to attack and pumped in two more goals in the second half through Edeh Chidi in the 51st minute and Nicholas Borgues in the 75th minute and sealed the fate of Vasco Sports Club.
In the another match played at Tilak ground Vasco da Gama, Churchill Brothers bundled out Velsao Pale 8-0 after leading 4-0 at the breather.
For Churchill, Odafa Okolie scored three goals, Thangjam Singh and D Raju two each and Reisangmi Vashum one.
At the end of the 12th round, Dempo, out of 12 outings, took their points tally to 29 with nine wins, two draws and a loss to top the table. Churchill Brothers followed with 27 points from eight wins and three draws, while Sporting Club de Goa are placed third with 26 points. Salgaocar with 24 points is placed fourth. Velsao Pale and Vasco remain with nine and seven points respctively from equal number of outings.
