Agartala, Oct 11 (UNI) The CPI(M) Tripura state committee has reacted sharply over the 27-point demands of the tribal-based Opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT).

CPI(M) spokesperson and party secretariat member Goutam Das said here today that the INPT's demands, especially the one for 50 per cent reservation of Assembly seats for tribals, withdrawal of National Security Act (NSA) and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) from tribal areas, additional power with direct funding to the Autonomous District Council (ADC) and introduction of Inner Line Permits (ILPs), were nothing but exactly the demands of the NLFT and ATTF outfits.

''There was sufficient provocation from the demonstrators to generate tension among the tribals and non-tribals in the state as well as shouting of slogans in the rally against democratic set-up and norms,'' Mr Das said.

He alleged that the demand of 50 per cent reservation for tribals in the Assembly, returning of the tribal land presently owned by non-tribals and inclusion of the Roman script for Kokborok (tribal language) was an echo of the agenda of the militant outfits, who had been carrying out inhuman activities in the state for the past one and half decade.

The CPI(M) leader termed the INPT rally yesterday as a ''political exercise'', just to proceed for ''bargaining of seats with the Congress'' ahead of the Assembly elections.
