Kohima, Oct 11 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Nagaland Assembly I Imkong has asserted that the Congress will storm back to power in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Addressing a meeting of Congress functionaries at Mokokchung district yesterday, Mr Imkong criticised the Nagaland Peoples' Front (NPF) led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government for being callous about the development work in the state.

He alleged that the State Government was not utilising the funds meant for the development of rural areas properly even though the Centre was providing huge amount of money for the development of the State.

''Despite provision of large amount of funds from the Centre, the rural areas of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire are still lagging behind in terms of development,'' he said.

The Opposition leader also questioned about the funds utilised for Mokokchung district and asked the State Government to divulge details of the funds.

He also alleged that there was discrimination in allocation of funds for development by the DAN Government.

Mr Imkong called upon the people not to be ''misled by the propaganda and misinformation campaign of the other political parties.'' He appealed to the party workers to work diligently and contribute wholeheartedly to bring the party back to the power in the State.
