Centre offers help to Raj Govt, issues alert to all states

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The Home Ministry today condemned the blast at the Ajmer Sharif Durgah that killed two people and injured 12.

and assured all possible assistance to the Rajasthan government.

An alert has been issued to all the states asking them to be cautious of the designs of terrorists who might try to disrupt peace, unity and religious harmony of the country by causing such blasts, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal told reporters here.

Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta spoke to the state Chief Secretary seeking details regarding the blast and assured all possible assistance to the state government to tackle the situation.

Special Secretary Internal Security M Kumawat spoke to the Director General of Police of Rajasthan seeking details of the incident.

The blast in Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti's durgah occurred this evening at about 1815 hrs near the holy tomb shortly after the custom of 'iftar', where a huge gathering of devotees were present owing to Ramzan.

Recently, Home Minister Shivraj Patil had warned states that terrorists could make religious places and areas where people congregated in large numbers their targets.
