Second round of talks with Gujjars to be held today

Jaipur, Oct 10 (UNI) The second round of talks between the Gujjar leaders and the Government to end the eight-day-old 'Jail bharo' agitation for their inclusion in ST list will begin in Ajmer today.

BJP state General Secretary Rampal Jat, who is acting as a a mediator between the Government and the Gujjar leaders, reached Ajmer today after apprising Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje regarding the progress of the talks held last night. Meanwhile, rebel Gujjar-BJP MLAs Attar Singh Bhadana and Prahland Gunjal had also reached to Ajmer jail to participate in the deliberations.

The Gujjars had launched the jail bharo agitation from October 2 in the state, for the fulfillment of their seven point programme inclduing, recommendation by the State Government to the Centre favouring inclusion in ST list, job to one member of the family killed in police firing, compensation to the injured, withdrawal of the cases against the Gujjars during the last agitation and the release of Gujjars still in jails.

Rajasthan Health Minister Digamber Singh is representing the Government in the talks.

The Government is trying find a way out with the Gujjar women threatening to court arrest from October 11, if their demands were not met.
