Probe ordered into tribal prisoner's death

Shahdol, MP, Oct 10 (UNI) A tribal youth, who was convicted in a theft case, died in judicial custody and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into his death.

The District Magistrate ordered the authorities to complete the inquiry within a month into the death of Rakesh Singh Gond, a resident of Kotma in Anuppur district.

Official sources said Rakesh was convicted on January nine, 2007 and remanded to Budhar jail, where he fell ill. From Budhar hospital, he was later shifted to the Shahdol district hospital when his condition worsened on September 19, 2007. After two days, Rakesh was taken to Medical College in Rewa where he succumbed on September 26.
