NHRC issues notice to Sikkim police on SHRP member's murder

Gangtok, Oct 10 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent a notice to Sikkim police to submit a 'requisite report' by November eight on murder of Mahesh Subba, an active member of a Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad (SHRP).

Dr A D Subba, president of the regional political party from Daramdin in West Sikkim had filed a complaint with the comission at New Delhi on August 21 after which one person was arrested.

The State Police DIG (Range) Akshay Sachdev told UNI that the notice was sent to Sikkim DG C M Ravindaran on October eight last.

The commission had also warned the State Police to take proper actions if the report was not submitted within the stipulated period.

''We will be sending the report within the stipulated time,'' DIG Sachdeva said.
