Mexican 'Snigdha' weds Banarasi 'Swaroop' in Indian style
Varanasi, Oct 10 (UNI) An Indian man and a Mexican woman working in an American shipping company, completed their year-old marriage in the US by remarrying in the Indian way at a temple here this evening.
Swaroop Mukherjee (33) again married Maribel Velaskes (32)-- both employees in Royal Carribean-- at an Arya Samaj temple in Khojwan area of the city.
Both Swaroop and Maribel married in the US court last year, Saurabh Mukherjee, the groom's elder brother told UNI adding, ''Our parents, however, wanted the year-old marital union be provided traditional Indian colours. Hence, the matrimony was solemnised as per Arya Samaj rituals.'' The marriage was solemnised by Mahatma Rajendra Yogi, who first performed the 'Shuddhikaran' ceremony, followed by renaming of Maribel as Snigdha.
The concluding ritual of the nuptial ceremony 'Sindoordan' was followed by dollops of Bengali sweets being gifted to the bride and groom.
''She is now Snigdha for us and no longer Maribel,'' said Swaroop's family, a resident of Khalispura area of Varanasi.
