Haryana to have 2800 MW nuclear power plant
Yamunanagar, Oct 10 (UNI) A 2800 MW nuclear power plant will be set up in Fatehabad district of Haryana after the Indo-US nuclear deal comes into effect, state Power Minister Randeep Surjewala said today.
''The proposed nuclear power plant will be set up in Fatehabad district once the 123 agreement is operationalised,'' Mr Surjewala said while talking to reporters here.
Regarding the Rs 2097 crore thermal power plant in Yamunanagar, he said a 300 MW unit of the plant would start functioning on November one, the Haryana Day.
Another 300 MW unit of the plant would be commissioned by March 31, 2008, he added.
He said power projects amounting to Rs 25,000 ccore were being set up in Haryana which would generate 5,000 MW of electricity.
