Dates for bilateral meetings with Pakistan being finalised

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today said the government is discussing details of the Iran-Pakistan -India (IPI) gas pipeline with the two other countries and mutually convenient dates for bilateral meetings are also being finalised.

Speaking at the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry, Mr Deora said 60 MMSCMD of gas is proposed to be supplied in Phase-I and will be shared equally by neighbours India and Pakistan.

He said in Phase-II 90 MMSCMD of gas will be supplied to India and Pakistan Mr Deora's statement comes in the wake of media reports that officail level meeting official level meeting between Pakistan and Iran will take place in Islamabad on October 15 to take forward the gas pipeline project.

Iran has said that it would finalise the 7.4 billion dollar gas pipeline deal with Pakistan alone if India does not participate.

The pipeline project will ease the burgeoning energy needs of gas hungry India.
