Bharat Nirman campaign in Jalandhar from Oct 23

Jalandhar, Oct 10 (UNI) To highlight major welfare programmes of Centre and State governments, Minister of Information and Broadcasting is organising Bharat Nirman campaign in the city from October 23 to 27.

In a press note issued here today, Press Information Bureau Media and Communication Officer Anil Kumar Mehay stated that during the Public Information Campaign (PIC), special focus would be on National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Prime Minister's New 15-Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities, National Rural Health Mission, Right To Information Act, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid-Day Meal Scheme among others.

The six components of Bharat Nirman are rural electrification, rural water supply, rural housing, rural roads, rural telephony and irrigation, he added.

He said the main features of the Prime Minister's New 15-Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities would be enhancing opportunities for education, equitable share in economic activities and employment, improving the conditions of living of minorities and prevention and control of communal riots.

The Bharat Nirman--Public Information Campaign in the city would be held at Kartar Palace, Focal Point Chowk, Bye-Pass Amritsar GT Road, Jalandhar, on the major programmes of the Central Government, he said.

Giving details of the campaign, Mr Mehay said that during this five-day campaign, lectures from the experts on different subjects would be delivered to apprise the people about major programmes of the Central Government.

This is the fifth Bharat Nirman-PIC being organized in Punjab, Mr Mehay concluded.
