New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Welcoming the Union Cabinet's decision to recommend imposition of President's rule in Karnataka, the BJP today said it was the only way out of the crisis.

BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad told UNI that the BJP expected the Centre to hold elections at the earliest and the government should seek Parliament's approval at the earliest and not wait for two months as prescribed under the Constution.

He said early polls were the best way out and any delay would be construed as the Centre trying to take advantage of President's rule imposed on the state.

The Union Cabinet this evening decided to recommend President's Rule in Karnataka on the recommendations of the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur after the BJP withdrew its support to Janata Dal (Secular)-led coalition. The coalition came unstuck after the JD(S) refused to hand over the power as per the understanding struck 20 months ago on October 3.
