Pak Gen appointed Military Advisor at UN

United Nations, Oct 9: A Pakistan Army Lt Gen has been appointed Military Advisor of the United Nations Department of Peace-Keeping Operations (DPKO).

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today appointed the 30-year veteran of the Pakistan Army, Lt. Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha to succeed acting Military Adviser Gen Per Arne Five of Norway.

For the past two years, Gen Pasha served as Director-General of Military Operations at the Pakistan Army Central Headquarters.

He has also served as the Contingent and Sector Commander with the UN Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) and was responsible for the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of former rebel groups.

In the Pakistani Army, Gen Pasha has commanded an infantry division, a mechanized infantry brigade and an infantry battalion, and has also served as the Chief Instructor of the Command and Staff College of the Pakistani Army.
