New funding pattern for SSA

Shillong, Oct 9 (UNI) The Congress-led UPA government has announced a revised funding pattern for implementation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme, an official statement said today.

This funding pattern will become effective from April 1 next.

For the North Eastern States, the fund sharing pattern will be in the ratio of 9:1 with the Centre's share resourced from the 10 per cent earmarked funds for the NE Region in the SSA's Central Budget.

This is separate from the funding pattern between the Centre and other states being 13:7 for the first two years of the Eleventh Plan.

The 10 per cent total share required to be provided by the NE states during 2007-08 as per their approved Annual Works Plan and Budget 2007-08 will be to the tune of Rs 717940.94, the 90 per cent Central share will be Rs.1400197.78, with the total outlay approved during 2007-08 for the North Eastern states being Rs 2118138.72.
