Media comes under attack from Mayawati

Lucknow, Oct 9 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati today criticised the media for ''propogating'' anti-BSP and anti-government reports.

Addressing a massive 'savdhan raho, aage barho' rally on the occasion of the first death anniversary of BSP ideologue Kanshiram, the party president said the media had been unfair to her party and the government.

She went to the extent of warning her party cadre against the combined ''misleading campaign'' of the Opposition with the help of ''money, maafia and media''.

Ms Mayawati said the media was giving out ''false reports'' that her government was taking illegal possession of the government buildings to construct various memorials dedicated to the memories of B R Ambedkar and Kanshiram. ''I expect the media to be more responsible and factual,'' she quipped.

In fact, the UP CM was critical of the media's role since her takeover about four months ago and she made it public during her first press conference.

The BSP leader suggested her partymen to ignore malafide reports of the media agaisnt her party and the government and asked them to stick to what their leaders said.
