Kuccha-baniyan gang strikes, 12 wounded

Chitrakoot, Oct 9 (UNI) The notorious kuccha-baniyan gang today raided a Dalit settlement in the Mau area here and robbed four households.

The armed desperadoes inflicted severe wounds to at least 12 persons, when they tried to offer resistence.

Police Superintendent Preetinder Singh said about 12 assailants raided Khandeha village in the wee hours of the day.

They broke open the doors of the victims's dwellings for robbery and made away with valuables and cash.

The assailants also misbehaved with women, Mr Singh informed.

Meanwhile, two of the 12 injured Meera and Badri Prasad had been referred to Allahabad in a serious condition.

A manhunt had been launched to nab the culprits.
