Sangli, Maharashtra, Oct 8 (UNI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today arrested a senior clerk of the Sangli Zilla Parishad Higher Education department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 here.
The clerk has been identified as Dattatraya Maruti Bubhne, ACB sources said.
A retirad professor Suryabhan Sambhaji Chavan had applied for pension, for which he met Bubhne and requested to clear his proposal early. However, Bubhne demanded a bribe of Rs 1,500 to clear his pension paper and finally, agreed for Rs 1,000, the sources said.
Then, Mr Chavan lodged a complaint with the ACB. A team, led by DySP H K Jagdale, laid a trap and nabed Bubhne while allegedly accepting the bribe amount in his office, sources added.
