Abu Salem's mother passes away

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) The mother of extradited gangster and one of the accused in 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, Abu Salem, died today.

Jannatulnisa passed away this afternoon in a hospital at Navi Mumbai.

She was admitted to Millenium Hospital in Navi Mumbai yesterday, after she complained of increased blood pressure and other problems. She passed away while being treated in the same hospital this afternoon, sources close to Salem said.

Meanwhile, Salem, whose trial has been separated in the serial blasts case, today orally urged the designated Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act (TADA) court to allow him to carry his mother's body to his native place for the last rites.

He informed the court that it was her wish that her last rites be performed at their native village in UP. But, there was no formal application moved by the extradited gangster.
