New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Crompton Greeves and Pest Control of India are among nine companies which have bagged the National Awards for Outstanding In-house R&D Achievements, 2007.
The Awards were announced by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, here today.
Reliance Industries Ltd, Surat, won the award for developing cyclohexane recovery system in PE plant of the Reliance Hazira Manufacturing Division, while Tata Steel got it for was commercialising hexavalent chromium removal in chromite concentrates Crompton Greaves Ltd, Mumbai, received the award for manufacturing 'Voyager', a railway carriage fan, 'Zephyr', a telecom shelter fan, and BLDC ceiling fan.
Pest Control (India) Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, bagged the award for development and promotion of technology and products for environment-friendly management of tissue borers of sugarcane using indigenously synthesised sex-pheromone and patented water trap.
Other winners are: -- Laila Impex, Vijayawada, for development of 5-Loxin, a novel anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic product.
-- United Phosphorous Ltd, Vapi (Gujarat) for development of gas monitoring devices for fumigation Industry; flammable gas detection devices for industrial and domestic segments; breath alcohol analyser for traffic police, railways, hospitals; and gas sensors.
-- Minda Industries Ltd, Gurgaon for deveopment of intelligent illuminated non-contact handle-bar with self -cancellation blinkers.
-- Ananth Technologies Ltd, Hyderabad, for 12 Channel rotary telemetry system for gas turbine.
-- Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd, Bangalore, for design, development and optimisation of multimedia subsystem.
