Chennai, Oct 8 (UNI) Mysterious fever continues to grip the medicos of the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital, with seven people, including three students, being admitted to hospital today.

Official sources said those admitted to the hospital were final year students -- J Kumar, Kadhirvelu and Babu -- and four nurses.

The spread of the fever has sent panic waves among the students, medical staff, nurses and other employees.

Its breakout came barely three days after the college and hostel were reopened. They were closed for ten days for vigorous cleaning operation in the wake of the death of a final year student Kareema following a fever.

In all 18 people, including Kareema from Uttar Pradesh, were affected by the fever three weeks ago and she died without responding to the treatment.

Government officials have, however, ruled out dengue and maintained that it was only a viral fever.
