Mysore Zoo gets giraffe for captive breeding

Mysore Oct 8 (UNI) With the arrival of two year old female giraffe from Lucknow zoo, the long awaited desire of Mysore Zoo authorities to continue the captive breeding has been fulfilled.

Zoo Director, Vijayaranjan Singh said here today that two year old Kushi was brought after 2400 km long hardous journey last evening in a special container on the exchange programme for a pair of chimpanzees, which was approved by the Zoo Authorities of India.

Expressing happiness over the finding a female for the three young males --Chamaraja, Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja, he said this would further boost the breeding activities The authorities were for a look out for a young female for the past two years as the giraffe at Mysore Zoo had become old for mating. With this, the search had finally ended at Lucknow which agreed to send one.
