Jabalpur, Oct 8 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Information Commissioner on a petition over dispute between the Lokayukta and the CIC over area of jurisdiction.
Hearing a petition by Special Police Establishment, a single-member bench of Justice A K Srivastava issued notices to the Information Commissioner, Sehore-resident accused Ramnarayan Rathore and advocate Prakash Uppadhyay.
Petitioner's counsel Gurpal Singh Ahuliawala told the court that the Lokayukta had caught Rathore red-handed while accepting bribe. A chargesheet was presented before the lower court, which convicted Rathore.
Later, accused Rathore sought information pertaining three documents through the Right to Information Act. The request was turned down by the Information Commission. Subsequently, three appeals were rejected.
Rathore then filed first appeal before the Information Commissioner but it was rejected. However, his second appeal was accepted and information was provided.
Advocate General Ravinandan Singh appeared on the behalf of the Information Commissioner.
The court issued notices after hearing arguments from both sides.
